25 Years to Kehillat Kol Ha-Neshama
A BRIEF NOTE OF EXPLANATION
Around the time of Rosh HaShana 5771, the artist, Norman Slepkov, was honored by his religious community in that he was commissioned to design 5 chapter titles for a special publication honoring the 25th anniversary of Kehillat Kol Ha-Neshama in Jerusalem. It had been decided by the editors of this publication and the Rabbi, Rabbi Levi Weiman-Kelman, that each chapter would be based on one of the 5 Books of Moses in which the birth, development and future of the community and its congregation.
Norman decided that he would use a circle for the illustration and simple, beautiful calligraphy. The artist started searching for suitable quotes within each chapter to represent the theme of the chapter and its relation to the synagogue and its community.
The layout of the publication was such that the left-hand side had the illustration and the right hand side of the book had the extract. We have simply combined them each here in individual images with the translation in English of the extract.
