Gates to the Beatitudes
Back to the Online Shop
No person can eliminate the magnitude of the famous "Sermon on the Mount" and Norman wished to illustrate the 8 famous stanzas of this famous sermon using the Sea of Galilee as the focal point and, in each corner, a stylized representation of the actual gate to Kfar Nachum, otherwise known as the Mount of Beatitudes which sits at the northernmost tip of the Sea of Galilee.
Landscapes of the Sea of Galilee with Tiberias (top), Jerusalem (lower panel on the left) and Bethlehem (lower panel on the right) surround the text with olive branches on either side. Interspersed among the olive branches are the Ten Commandments written in Aramaic.
